We decided to go through Kentucky, since I’d never been there before, and I wanted to get a sense of the horse-country. We headed for Lexington, visited an extravagantly huge horse venue there, called the Kentucky Horse Park. We saw a horse breed show and also a brief viewing of some retired racing champions, as well as the children’s grooming stables where kids are coached in grooming miniature horses (dang that was rather adorable!).
Today we left Kansas and headed into Colorado. We weren’t in a hotel last night with internet and I was too tired the last two nights to do a blog about crossing three states and the Wabash, Illinois and Mississippi and (I think also the Missouri) Rivers.
Here are photos of the Garden of the Gods just outside of Colorado Springs. We drove into rain as we headed up higher in the mountains, but here the weather was spectacular.
