The Hopeful Ideal, a card from the Traveler Oracle Deck, has come up in conversations recently. It is a card in the suit called “pitfalls and baggage” because we can become fixated on an imaginary ideal and fail to engage and relate to the people and opportunities that are actually presenting. Its tricky because while in my experience we can bring things through the field of potentiality by acknowledging desires, we need to not get stuck relating to the ideal (the imaginary image we have of the person or the thing we want to happen). It’s vital to discern the real deal from the imagined ideal, and until one does, disempowerment and disfunction will prevail.
I’ve been discussing this with numerous people over the last few days. It seems to be something that’s “up” for folks. In one case it’s a mother who refuses to see disfunction in her son and who willfully hopes and desperately watches for any and all signs that he is fine (when his behavior strongly indicates otherwise). In another, its the discrepancy between the idea of a “perfect mate” and the women that are actually available. For me, it’s the idea of what it might be like when my novel and this deck are published by a publishing company (and not self-published any longer), something I’m working towards but that is not reality at this point. I find myself daydreaming, which isn’t bad or even wrong as long as I recognize that there are real things I can be doing to bring the reality I want to fruition. Also, I need to realize that the reality is NOT going to match my imagination, so I have to bring my attention away from the daydream and pay attention to things as they appear, as they manifest, as opportunities arise.

Hi Nanc, Good post! Remember the deck has a singular life of its own. It with the first book (stage 1a and b) is leading its own way. Something there already knows and has completed the journey. Now you can playfully show up, discover and interface with the part you play. What a relief, whew! It’s a done deal so just allow the ending to show up sooner in a relaxed, fun way. Really on a certain level this is not about you (it not up to you to make this happen) and, of course, on another level it is all about you (you bring the heart and soul to this project). I think your heart and soul would like to play their way through the rest of the time line. How about take your ego mind to the beach and let your heart be the guide from here on out. The action steps will just automatically be revealed and your ego-mind can orchestrate all that from its beachfront office in between wave surfing and sun bathing. Toodle-lu!
